Through interactive, thought-provoking experiences, this training offers participants the opportunity to develop increased understanding of cultural influences, assumptions and perceptions that may impact the effective delivery of services to diverse client populations.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Describe how cultural, personal and work experiences influence assumptions and perceptions;
• Apply a cultural competency framework to their agencies and practices to assess service delivery; and
• Utilize strategies for initiating and engaging in challenging conversations about cultural competency.

About the trainers

Doris Ferrer Roach, J. D., is a project manager at Realize Resources. In addition to her project management work, Doris consults with nonprofit organizations specializing in the development of effective leadership, strong teams and helping organizations benefit from an increasingly diverse workplace. 

Libby Zobel, LICSW, is a project manager at Realize Resources. She is a social worker who has been working with children and adults in the Boston area for over 20 years. For the past 13 years she has been working at JRI Health, an agency that addresses the needs of people with HIV/AIDS, or those who are at highest risk, and who are marginalized and underserved in our society.
